THE ARIZONA FAIR HOUSING CENTER AT A GLANCE
A Distinct Identity
In Arizona, Native American, Black, Asian and Latino populations have continued to experience discrimination in housing over the last thirty years.
AZFHC formed three decades ago in response to the need for fair housing enforcement and housing education for protected classes who have been highly segregated and underserved by housing providers. Since that time, AZFHC has helped more than 9,000 Arizona residents combat illegal and discriminatory housing practices.
Making A Difference
AZFHC is dedicated to eliminating housing discrimination and assisting victims of housing discrimination in exercising their rights. The Fair Housing Act protects people from adverse treatment in any housing transaction based upon seven protected classes: race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, and familial status.
The mission of The Arizona Fair Housing Center is to strengthen communities and to ensure equal access to fair housing in Metro Phoenix and surrounding areas through training, education, enforcement, and advocacy.
Examples of housing discrimination include:

Being told you cannot live somewhere because you have children

Being denied housing because of a disability

Being forced to pay a pet deposit for a service animal

Feeling as though you were treated differently while seeking housing due to your race or national origin

Being sexually harassed by a landlord or neighbor
